Sherlockian Potpourri
By Don Hobbs

It was certainly a slow week for Sherlockian doings around my house last week. After three weeks on the road it was good to be home. It was strange to come home and not find a stack or even stack of packages awaiting me. I was able to squeeze in a bit of Sherlockian last week. I was working in The Dalles, Oregon so after flying to Portland, I was able to meeting up with Jerry Margolin and his wife, Judy. I arrived in time to visit Jerry's house and his staggering Sherlockian art collection.

This was my third visit over all and second since Jerry sold his book collection to concentrate on original Sherlockian artwork. Good decision. Nearly every inch of every wall is teeming with framed art. It is too bad that Picasso never painted a Sherlockian piece because most likely it would have been on one of Jerry's walls.

Jerry Margolin holding a Fredrick Dorr Steele drawing of the Hound. Too bad Jerry, The University of Minnesota owns this one.

In other Sherlockian related news, I bought my first Sherlock Holmes book with Robert Downey Jr. on the cover in the title role. The book in Bahasa Malay and the title, Sherlock Holmes - Wira Kota London loosely translated as "Sherlock Holmes - Savior/Brave Outstanding Hero of London City." The book has not arrived yet but after seeing this description of the book, how could I not buy it?

Gripping, eh?

Happy collecting!!
