Saxe-Coburg Square

Saxe-Coburg Square

(Named for Victoire of Saxe-Coburg, the mother of Queen Victoria,
according to the residents.)

With a full array of services just around the corner, you may find the laurel-lined lawns and homely brick residences just the sort of place you'll want to burrow into and settle down. There's the City and Suburban Bank (blue dot), the tobacconist and news-shop (orange dot), a vegetarian restaurant (green dot), carriage builder (purple dot), a subway station (light blue dot), and a pawnbroker (red dot).

Getting There

As the map below clearly reveals, Saxe-Coburg Square can be reached through a variety of convenient and scenic routes. A short walk from Aldersgate Street Station, a longer walk from the Upper Thames piers, and a simple step down from a cab via London's many fine streets. (Don't mistake Coburg Street or Coburg Dock for the Square! You will be amply disappointed.)

If Saxe-Coburg still eludes you even with a map, as it does so many, just ask one of the friendly and helpful clerks found in any local shop. Their terse yet functional style of giving directions ("Third right, fourth left." "Up three, over two.") is reknowned throughout England. Keep asking until you get there -- you'll be truly happy that you did!
