Curious Artifacts of a Sherlockian Sort "The Adventure of the Dancing Men" in Dancing Men Code |
"The Adventure of the Dancing Men" in Dancing Men Code Sherlockians can do some very strange things. The object of translating a message into code is usually to keep that message from being read by prying eyes . . . but what if the message is something that everyone already knows? And what if the code is something that's explained in a book you can buy nearly everywhere books are sold? This coded pamplet was the result of collector's mania collided with publisher's mania, and a sort of "because we can!" spirit. The idea came up over dinner during Don Hobbs's first visit to Sherlock Peoria, and within two days, he had a copy in his hands. Sometimes the most pointless exercises can be the most fun.
