Pawky . . . and Not So Pawky
Sherlockiana is a multi-faceted jewel. In this one rare and valued hobby we find everything from serious biographical researching to chocolate bunny collecting, from wine tasting to costume parading, from horse racing to music video editting. But among all the myriad aspects of the celebration of Sherlock Holmes, none gets more cries of “Get out of here, ya bum!” than those who attempt that most fallible of goals: humor. Having spent the free moments in a not-so-free weekend, poring over the collected works of the Rascally Lascar on the Hounds of the Internet and seeking inspiration for the script of “Hee Haw Holmes,” I’m finding myself very aware of what it takes to walk that tightrope between what works and what gets one lynched . . . as well as short on time for this week’s site update.
