It's A New Year
By Don Hobbs

2007 rolled in without much of a whimper for me. We had a small dinner party with our best friends and on January 2nd, I was back on an airplane heading back up to the Pacific Northwest. Nothing too exciting, however, the new year has already brought a first for my Sherlockian collection. I have added my first Cuba edition.

Thanks to Andrew J. Peck of New York City, I now have in my collection the following entry:

C3842.
Aventuras de Sherlock Holmes.  [Translator not given] La Habana: Editorial Nacional de Cuba, 1964. xv, 277 p. (Biblioteca del Pueblo) Selección prólogo de Oscar Hurtado.

Contents:  Stud. -- Vall. -- Scan. -- Fina.

I am in the midst of preparing to travel to New York City for the Sherlock Holmes Birthday Celebration Weekend. I missed last year's festivities because of a sudden work-related trip to the Philippines in January. I am always glad to see Sherlockians and there is no better place than the Sherlock Holmes Birthday Celebration Weekend and I know when I get there, I will feel the energy.

Walking into the lobby of the Algonquin, seeing all of the familiar Sherlockian faces, smelling all of the wonderfully unique New York City aromas, and just absorbing the energy that New York City provides will transform me as it always does. Going to the Birthday Celebration Weekend is the best rejuvenation that I know.

I hope to see you in the City this week

Happy Collecting!!
