Sherlocking for Five Years at Sherlockpeoria
By Don Hobbs

Yesterday, June 2, was the anniversary of the first webpage for Sherlockpeoria.net. Every year, I write an article about how amazed I am that we (at least me) have lasted this long. Well, this year I am not amazed any longer. I simply accept the fact that sometime during the week I will sit down at my computer and write something that I hope is somewhat Sherlockian in nature. I will send it to my lovely wife, Joyce, under the heading as ‘Edit Girl’. I will save the returned article in my Sherlock Peoria folder and then email it off to Brad sometime before Sunday night is over. The routine has become just that – routine.

On June 2, 2002, I wrote “Anger” and Brad wrote “Sherlock Peoria”. We had no idea exactly where we were heading, only a burning desire to bring forth the world’s first weekly Sherlock Holmes webpage. The site has evolved over the course of its existence. In August of 2004, we added “Action Sherlock Brain Theatre and on December 5, 2004 “The View from the West End” by Stanley Hopkins joined us. We have had several guest columnists and most recently added S. Holmes, IV’s movie reviews under the heading of “The Cinema of the 4.”

I am proud of my accomplishments as a Sherlockpeoria Sherlockian. Brad Keefauver and I are still the only two Sherlockians producing weekly articles.

We are ones to stand on our past deeds. We are always looking to make SP better, are open to suggestions and really enjoy hearing from SP readers. As Mr. Philip Cunningham of Chicago recently discovered, one never knows when that wild and crazy pair of Sherlockians, Brad and Don, might show up in your hometown. You do not have to have a sign of 4 in your town or a cemetery where a famous Sherlockian is buried. With my travel schedule, I might turn up on your doorstep tomorrow. I can usually persuade Brad to drop what he’s doing and join me.

If you own a Hansom Clock, send us your picture of the clock and we will make you a member of the Hansom Clock Club. You too will be immortalized on SP. I also accept pictures of highway 4 signs. You will be added to my Sherlock Power Point presentation and given full credit for you photograph.

It is you the reader of SP that gives us our reason to carry on so I hope to continue my routine and write a similar article for our tenth anniversary.

Happy birthday Sherlockpeoria and…..

Happy Collecting!!
